Early last year, on a whim, I posted that I would shoot a wedding for free if it was a destination wedding outside of the South and all travel expenses were covered. That’s when Jenna and I first made contact. She told me about her ceremony would be in Illinois and the reception across the Mississippi River in Iowa. Interesting. Go on…
We chatted back and forth and it was settled! Midwest here I come… in about 15 months 😉 But before I knew it, April 2018 was here and my second shooter, Robin, and I were boarding an airplane.
We arrived in the Quad Cities, drove across the river, and walked into the most beautiful historic, boutique hotel – Hotel Blackhawk. I have been blessed to travel a bit in my life and this hotel was by far the most beautiful one I’ve ever stayed at. Robin and I had a couple hours to spare so drove around looking at the most insanely gorgeous historic homes in Davenport, IA. Later we ended up in LeClaire (home to American Pickers & Antique Archaeology) strolling it’s beautiful Main Street and tasting some delicious wine.
We headed to the rehearsal where I finally got to meet Jenna & Dempsey in person. And let me tell you, after chatting back and forth for over a year, it felt like being reunited with old friends. We walked into the most stunning 100+-year-old Sacred Heart Cathedral. Y’all, this place was stunning.
The rest of the weekend was an amazing blur filled with the cutest flower girls, a party bus (some bar hoping..), and a little midnight blowing following the reception.
Jenna & Dempsey – thank you for not only allowing me to photograph your wedding but the chance to experience a stunning little area. It was such an incredible weekend and I am so thankful Facebook brought y’all into my life. And Jenna – congrats on graduating! You’d have a quite an exciting couple of weeks!
Below are a couple of my favorites from their wedding day and a small gallery at the bottom! I can’t wait to send the rest of the gallery off!
